Eric Michael Arnone is an accomplished and skilled trial litigator with an impeccable record of success on both sides of the courtroom. A seasoned defense attorney, he fights his hardest to achieve the best possible outcome for each and every one of his clients, consistently earning dismissals on behalf of those facing the most serious felony and misdemeanor charges alike. Mr. Arnone is highly successful at sparing his clients incarceration as well as avoiding the collateral consequences of criminal convictions altogether. He has salvaged clients’ professional licenses and careers and in the case of his non-citizen clients, secured dispositions with an eye towards preserving immigration status and a pathway to U.S. citizenship.

In 2017 alone, Mr. Arnone earned complete dismissals in numerous cases involving first and second degree felony assault, first and second degree robbery, loaded gun possession, knife possession, drug possession and theft. He was also recruited to bolster legal teams defending individuals facing extradition to foreign countries. Clients credit his experience as a well-respected former prosecutor and zealous member of the defense bar for the results he routinely obtains, as he utilizes an insider’s familiarity with the dynamics of criminal prosecution to secure the best possible results every time. Mr. Arnone’s legal opinion has been sought by the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the New York Daily News, and the New York Post, and he has appeared in international media outlets as well appeared on television to discuss high-profile cases and developing legal issues of importance. He has also guest-lectured at Fordham University and is co-author of a blog covering significant issues in criminal procedure and law.

Mr. Arnone brings a decade of criminal law experience to the table after a successful career in one of the country’s most prestigious prosecutor’s offices. Mr. Arnone served as an Assistant District Attorney in the New York County District Attorney’s Office for ten years, first under the Hon. Robert M. Morgenthau and then under the Hon. Cyrus R. Vance, Jr. Beginning in 2001, Mr. Arnone was assigned to the trial division where he handled over eleven-hundred criminal cases involving charges for misdemeanors (petit larceny, marijuana and drug possession, DWI offenses, forgery) as well as serious felonies (drug sale, felony drug possession, firearms possession, attempted murder and murder). Mr. Arnone was also a member of the office’s domestic violence unit and was eventually entrusted to work cases with the NYPD’s esteemed Major Case Squad, where he investigated bank robberies and active situation ransom-demand kidnappings. He also regularly supervised the office’s early case assessment bureau -- making crucial charging decisions at the early stages of criminal prosecutions -- and participated in legal training and trial advocacy programs geared to help the office’s younger prosecutors hone their courtroom skills.

In 2008, Mr. Arnone was recruited to join the office’s elite “Homicide Investigations Unit,” (later renamed the “Violent Criminal Enterprises Unit”) where he conducted long-term investigations into contract killings, firearms trafficking, homicides committed by large scale criminal organizations and violent drug gangs. He also tried conspiracy and murder cases involving the use of cooperating witnesses and gathered experience managing more complicated prosecutions involving multiple defendant that spanned long periods of time. He routinely employed more advanced methods of proactive law enforcement, executing dozens of search warrants and taking down some of Manhattan’s most violent drug crews.

In 2011, Mr. Arnone entered private practice with his former colleagues from the Manhattan District Attorney's Office. Mr. Arnone quickly earned a reputation for being an aggressive and reliable defense attorney, going above and beyond for every client he represents (Read some of his client testimonials here). Mr. Arnone has successfully represented people from all walks of life, including celebrities, athletes, musicians, attorneys, doctors, students, and foreign nationals He has also served on New York’s felony indigent defense panel since 2011. Mr. Arnone has earned dismissals in many cases involving charges of attempted murder, firearms and narcotics possession, and more. As a result of his zealous efforts in the courtroom, Mr. Arnone was selected as one of the "Top 40 Under 40" trial lawyers by the National Trial Lawyers Association and maintains a perfect 10.0 rating on Avvo.com as a result of his stellar client and peer reviews (also winning the "Client's Choice Award' in 2016 and again in 2017). Mr. Arnone has also established himself as a top notch civil litigator, securing notable victories in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York and New York State Supreme Court. Mr. Arnone has also successfully argued appeals in the Second Circuit of the United States Court of Appeals and the First Department of the Appellate Division of New York. Simply put, Mr. Arnone is a tried-and-true litigator who has the knowledge and experience to achieve the best results for his clients.
